Next week is Administration of Justice and Geology final. I hate Geology. Thank the many benevolent dieties on this world it is my last science requirement. The only thing I need to know about rocks pertaining to my future Government career...well I dunno. Army? "Will this rock stop a bullet?"
yey for sugary iced coffee...I should crash within a few hours.
Thanks for the links Galla.
And I need to listen to a new playlist. And get new userpics...
Another one I considered basic reading is Starship Troopers by R.A. Heinlein. No...Not the movie...there was no movie. Only an Anime. The Anime was acceptable. And only because I compared it to the nonexistent movie...
Gah make it stop! Dx *reliving scenes from that horrible movie*
...
Mainly because I think America really needs a History and Moral Philosophy class, that needs to be passed...and taught by clones of Lt.Col. Jean Dubois. xD
List of things to do today~
Finish presentation on Winnetou for German Fascination with Native Americans class (seriously, wtf? course catalog said it was "Major German Writers") and present it later. ETA = Whenever I stop taking naps to make up for the fact I stayed up till late talking to my girlfriend. But seriously, ain't that hard to do. Just need to use the book against itself, and show Germany as an actual colonizing power through cultural means. AKA, Old Shatterhand and Wnnetou's relationship. (Am I the only one who feels there are homosexual undertones between the two? I mean c'mon, seriously, they killed off Winnetou's sister, who had the faintest ammount of love for Old Shatterhand)
Start on literature review for term paper. Outline Term Paper. Term paper's on US-Japan security interests in East Asia and in the International community, but more so focusing on the US pushing Japan's hand in trying to foot more of the bill in collective self defense, and how younger Japanese politicians (born in post-war) areopening dialogue in amending Article 9.
Actually start on that term paper. Lit review due Wednesday...I think...paper due friday.
And why am I posting this right now? Well nostalgia hit me when I took songs from random from my music folder, and I've been hunting down a torrent for Silent Mobius for a good ammount of time this morning. Ah, back when TechTV was its own channel and was made of awesome geekness and win. Now its soul is gone and filled with horny college-age frat boys trying to act cool like us nerds and gamers.
Then we were told we didn't need it.
wtf...
FUBAR cost me sleep and my PT.
-.-
2) Barack Obama's campaign funds.
3) Employ program to extend time and basically send a computer virus to certain databases after copying it, give the very secrets the government wanted to have from other governments and hope it'll be enough.
I wish I had an Xbox 360.Dangit Ryan, why'd your 360 go RROD?
Space opera is a subgenre of speculative fiction or science fiction that emphasizes romantic, often melodramatic adventure, set mainly or entirely in space, generally involving conflict between opponents possessing powerful (and sometimes quite fanciful) technologies and abilities. Perhaps the most significant trait of space opera is that settings, characters, battles, powers, and themes tend to be very large-scale.Now, if y'all remember me, I like scifi stuffs. I mean, Gundam and Macross metaseries cones to mind immediately, then there is Legend of the Galactic Heroes as well as the Seikai series. So, what is the object of my undying affection for all things space opera-ish? Why, it's Tytania of course.
Tytania is the newest novel series written by renowned Japanese novelist Dr. Yoshiki Tanaka. Plot summary via Wikipedia [Accessed 02:04 GMT-4]
After venturing into outer space, humanity has built many planetary cities. Most of these cities were affiliated to the Interstellar Federation, and it became the biggest force in the galaxy. Therefore, people believed that the Age of the Federation would last long. However, the situation changes when a clan called "Tytania" secedes from the Federation and receives the title of Lord from the Emperor of Vardhana. Tytania obtains a victory over the Federation, and they assert that the Empire cannot exist without them. Tytania puts most of the Federal Territories under its control, and they hold hegemony in the galaxy. Meanwhile, a war begins between Euria and Tytania over their respective rights and interest. From that moment on, the galaxy enters into a tempestuous period.Big read. The series doesn't have that big of a fanbase, if I remember correctly, and of course follows in the heels of Gundam 00, Macross Frontier, Code Geass, Guren Lagann and so forth, but it captures something I really missed.
Politics. Intrigue. Stuff that isn't over the top. (C'mon, space-bugs? Aren't we cutting it a little close to Heinlein, eh Macross?) Tytania brings back memories of my mind wandering the stars with Lafiel and Jinto in the Sekai universe, or of being on the bridge of the Ulysses as Julian Minci negotiates the cease-fire with the ailing Kaiser Reinhard. There were no mechs in the traditional, or better yet, contemporary sense. Technology takes a back seat and politics takes center stage. I really love how this wasn't a direct clone of Dr. Tanaka's earlier famous work, Legends of the Galactic Heroes, because the individual intrigues of the Tytanian dukes was lovely, and did not focus on an overwhelming single rivalry between Jouslain Tytania and Fan Hulic. Although that could be because this novel series ain't done yet.
The animation, cg or otherwise, could use work, but that's what people said with LOGH, and frankly, I don't give a damn. And this isn't LOGH. There is a lot more of intrigue and politics in here while LOGH had more battles. (Damn you crunchyroll in removing it from yer site.)
But yeah. Tytania ain't yer average "drill to the heavens" or Idol-weaponry space opera. No. It is basically like how TVTropes described it.
Tytania, the closest thing to an anime DuneSorry for the rant, but Tytania is so damn awesome. I hope a new series is made...or more books. Also, Note to Self: Read more Heinlein and actually read Herbert.
Y'all who voted Obama...y'know we'll be paying out of these stimulus bills and whatnot from our own pensions and shit, right?
Even if we're allowed pensions.
Oh yeah, random happy. We'll be going to the American Legion post near the school, where they have weapons familiarization for us. It'll be the closest I'll get to an M16 this semester, because I'll be working the week of the spring field trainign exercise. Damnit. I wanted to go, but I needed the money. And it's George Jones. How can I not pass up the chance to work at a George Jones concert?
Now I'm hungry. I want porkchops, with rice sprinkled with the seaweed and sesame seed seasoning my dad bought from North Carolina. Yey for randfom boredness, and only 12 minutes of lecture has passed. Damn. I might skip this lecture....doesn't help when your proessor has a long standing rivalry with the microphone and she's always going in and out.
...
I count 5 people sleeping...that's my cue to head out. What the professors don't get. To keep class attendances high? Post the damn powerpoint lectures AFTER class, not before. Or better yet, don't at all.
...
If I ever become a professor, I am so screwing my students over.
But I take it back. I'm still growing, and it is only though the bland and sometimes depressing road that made me who I am...
But yeah, lots of stuff happened. I graduated cum laude, for one. I barely squeaked by with a 3.5 GPA. Something to do with the Advanced Placement Statistics I took. I got in to George Mason University, took Japanese. Got steamrolled when they decided to take two years of Japanese and condense it to two semesters. I passed...but not pass with a good enough grade. As in...borderline pass/fail. Other than that. Same old same old. I don't study for Government or History related courses and still get decent grades (top 25 out of 100 students in that class). Math? My one math class required for my degree bowled me over. So did my fine arts requirement.
I'm commuting this year. In Army ROTC...and...I've sat here for 30 minutes deciding what to say then realized I've sidetracked by looking at stuff...so I give a list:
Stuff I'm watching right now:
- Tytania
- Chrome Shelled Regios
- CLANNAD ~After Story~
- To Aru Majutsu Index
first off is an Acer - Aspire TK-55 Laptop
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.j
The second, and possibly the more likely of the two I want, is an ASUS Eee PC. Black in color, it seems insufficient for use. 512MB processor and 4GB of memory, 3 GB taken up by the OS...leaves 1GB to install CCCP and Firefox...
Doesn't matter, I have Hayashibara and Stonebridge, my 40GB and 160GB ext HDD (respectively), and I just plan to duck tape them to the top and connect them.
My dad doesn't intend to give me back the laptop, so I'm looking at options with my limited budget.
