Well, just gonna say it quick. I agree with a few game critics. While Halo Wars ain't a great RTS in the level of StarCraft or Command and Conquer, it is still a good one and well fitting to be in the Halo universe. It's streamlined enough for console players and RTS newbies, while even if it doesn't hit the hardcore PC-RTS gamer (emphasis on PC) audience, is good enough to expect from a universe as expansive as the Halo universe.

I wish I had an Xbox 360.Dangit Ryan, why'd your 360 go RROD?

Dune in anime form (or as close to Dune I can get without reading the damn books).

No, Frank Herbert's Dune has not been animated. It's just something I came up with after browsing around tvtropes. But if you know what I'm talking about, well, you may not, Daine , since you tend to be the only one to read these live journal entries (and you lazy facebookers who will then see this copy pasted into a note). Dune is a good example of a Space Opera. The definition according to Wikipedia [Accessed 01:55 GMT-4]:

Space opera is a subgenre of speculative fiction or science fiction that emphasizes romantic, often melodramatic adventure, set mainly or entirely in space, generally involving conflict between opponents possessing powerful (and sometimes quite fanciful) technologies and abilities. Perhaps the most significant trait of space opera is that settings, characters, battles, powers, and themes tend to be very large-scale.
Now, if y'all remember me, I like scifi stuffs. I mean, Gundam and Macross metaseries cones to mind immediately, then there is Legend of the Galactic Heroes as well as the Seikai series. So, what is the object of my undying affection for all things space opera-ish? Why, it's Tytania of course.

Tytania is the newest novel series written by renowned Japanese novelist Dr. Yoshiki Tanaka. Plot summary via Wikipedia [Accessed 02:04 GMT-4]

After venturing into outer space, humanity has built many planetary cities. Most of these cities were affiliated to the Interstellar Federation, and it became the biggest force in the galaxy. Therefore, people believed that the Age of the Federation would last long. However, the situation changes when a clan called "Tytania" secedes from the Federation and receives the title of Lord from the Emperor of Vardhana. Tytania obtains a victory over the Federation, and they assert that the Empire cannot exist without them. Tytania puts most of the Federal Territories under its control, and they hold hegemony in the galaxy. Meanwhile, a war begins between Euria and Tytania over their respective rights and interest. From that moment on, the galaxy enters into a tempestuous period.
Big read. The series doesn't have that big of a fanbase, if I remember correctly, and of course follows in the heels of Gundam 00, Macross Frontier, Code Geass, Guren Lagann and so forth, but it captures something I really missed.

Politics. Intrigue. Stuff that isn't over the top. (C'mon, space-bugs? Aren't we cutting it a little close to Heinlein, eh Macross?) Tytania brings back memories of my mind wandering the stars with Lafiel and Jinto in the Sekai universe, or of being on the bridge of the Ulysses as Julian Minci negotiates the cease-fire with the ailing Kaiser Reinhard. There were no mechs in the traditional, or better yet, contemporary sense. Technology takes a back seat and politics takes center stage. I really love how this wasn't a direct clone of Dr. Tanaka's earlier famous work, Legends of the Galactic Heroes, because the individual intrigues of the Tytanian dukes was lovely, and did not focus on an overwhelming single rivalry between Jouslain Tytania and Fan Hulic. Although that could be because this novel series ain't done yet.

The animation, cg or otherwise, could use work, but that's what people said with LOGH, and frankly, I don't give a damn. And this isn't LOGH. There is a lot more of intrigue and politics in here while LOGH had more battles. (Damn you crunchyroll in removing it from yer site.)

But yeah. Tytania ain't yer average "drill to the heavens" or Idol-weaponry space opera. No. It is basically like how TVTropes described it.

Tytania, the closest thing to an anime Dune
Sorry for the rant, but Tytania is so damn awesome. I hope a new series is made...or more books. Also, Note to Self: Read more Heinlein and actually read Herbert.

So, here I am, chillin in Geology. What the hell am I doing here? It's a damn good day outside and I'm freezing in this room even if I'm in my uniform. Gah. Daine, stop procrastinating. (Well, I'm one to talk, to write shit during lecture that'll be on the test.) But yeah...why does a Governmentand International Politics major need with fossils? Unless someone does Jurasic Park shit and I've got to have a shotgun in my office for use against Velociraptors (which will be velociraptor proof, I swear, XKCD has taught me well) I don't know how this will be needed. I mean, I hate these stupid university wide requirements.Fine Arts? Wasted it on Popular Music in America. Math? Took Statistics (and nearly failed). Sciences? I'm taking the second Lab-based science, Geology 102, Historical Geology.

Oh yeah, random happy. We'll be going to the American Legion post near the school, where they have weapons familiarization for us. It'll be the closest I'll get to an M16 this semester, because I'll be working the week of the spring field trainign exercise. Damnit. I wanted to go, but I needed the money. And it's George Jones. How can I not pass up the chance to work at a George Jones concert?

Now I'm hungry. I want porkchops, with rice sprinkled with the seaweed and sesame seed seasoning my dad bought from North Carolina. Yey for randfom boredness, and only 12 minutes of lecture has passed. Damn. I might skip this lecture....doesn't help when your proessor has a long standing rivalry with the microphone and she's always going in and out.

...

I count 5 people sleeping...that's my cue to head out. What the professors don't get. To keep class attendances high? Post the damn powerpoint lectures AFTER class, not before. Or better yet, don't at all.

...

If I ever become a professor, I am so screwing my students over.

I'm still growing, and it is only though the bland and sometimes depressing road that made me who I am...

But yeah, lots of stuff happened. I graduated cum laude, for one. I barely squeaked by with a 3.5 GPA. Something to do with the Advanced Placement Statistics I took. I got in to George Mason University, took Japanese. Got steamrolled when they decided to take two years of Japanese and condense it to two semesters. I passed...but not pass with a good enough grade. As in...borderline pass/fail. Other than that. Same old same old. I don't study for Government or History related courses and still get decent grades (top 25 out of 100 students in that class). Math? My one math class required for my degree bowled me over. So did my fine arts requirement.

I'm commuting this year.
